21 Oct Kirby
This happy guy is Kirby. He was named after the great Kirby Puckett. During his healthy and mobile years, Kirby loved to go on long runs with my brother or long walks with me. He always loved car rides and would cry in the car until his window was rolled down…no matter the time of the year or speed of the vehicle. For the times when I would pick him up at the kennel, he would hear my voice and he and the staff member looked like a dog sled team minus the sled. The nice young ladies would be skating down the hall with his excitement.
Kirby loved company and would try to take off my coat by gently pulling on my coat sleeve so I would stay a little longer. When that did not work, he would try to block the door and cry. When he came to my house, I would hear him crying about a block away as they came around a corner and all the way to our driveway.
Kirby was smart, a great companion to my veteran brother, and loyal friend. I have a special place in my heart for this family member. Kirby was 12, almost 13 as his birthday is December.
